About Us

Last updated: July 2026

This page explains how the guides on this site get written, checked and kept current – and how we make money. It exists because we ask you to trust practical facts (ticket prices, water timetables, opening days) that change often, and trust should be checkable.

Who writes this

James – owner of Palazzetto Manassei in Collestatte, the village above Marmore Falls – writes and signs every guide. We are residents-and-owners, not a content agency; there is no writing team, no freelancers, no syndicated copy. We’re clear about what’s first-hand and what’s drawn from other sources.

How pages are researched

  • Official sources first. Prices, timetables and rules are checked against the official Italian sources (the falls’ own site, the Comune, the regional tourism board, operators’ published pages) – and we link them so you can verify us. Where the official source is Italian-only, we translate it and date the translation.
  • First-hand second. Restaurants are ranked only after we’ve eaten in them (“last visited” dates on the listings); walking pages say plainly what we’ve walked ourselves and what comes from official route information; villages get written up after we’ve walked them.
  • Dated stamps. A “Facts checked” date appears on every practical page and means exactly that. The water release timetable is updated within 48 hours of each official monthly schedule – it’s the page this whole site was founded on.

AI assistance — the honest version

We use AI tools in producing this site: for research assistance (finding and cross-checking sources), for drafting structure, and for translation support. Every page is then edited, fact-checked and approved by us before publishing, every claim traces to a source or to our own experience, and nothing publishes on autopilot. If that balance ever changes, this page will say so.

How we make money

Short version: we own the villa, and the site recommends it – openly, once per page at most, with our interest declared wherever we compare accommodation. Some outbound links (tours, experiences) may be affiliate links that pay us a commission at no cost to you – always disclosed, never a condition of coverage. No restaurant, attraction or operator has ever paid to appear on this site, and none can. The long version: the disclosure page.

Corrections

If we’ve got something wrong – a price, an opening day, a closed restaurant – tell us and we’ll fix it fast and note the correction. Being current is our entire competitive advantage; you’d be doing us a favour.
